Dance Around

Dance-A-Round offers classes in Ballet & Tap learning the technique of these dance styles in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The ethos of Dance-A-Round is that we provide fun and enjoyable classes for Boys & Girls of all ages enabling young people to develop both their physical and creative skills, as well as increase their self-esteem.  Dance-A-Round does not currently offer assessments or exams, but at the end of the academic year, parents are invited to watch our Annual Summer Performance in a Theatre setting giving the children the opportunity to experience and learn about performing to a live audience.

Ballet: Ballet Classes currently start at Dance-A-Round at the age of 6 years. The class is designed to encourage the children to learn different ways of moving, using props and music that they are familiar with. Once children reach school age the Ballet classes are designed for different levels depending on age and ability of the individual child.  The classes help their coordination, balance and self-control, musical ability, posture and a child's confidence.

Tap: Tap classes begin at 6 years old. In this class, the children learn the basic tap technique, along with the encouragement of their rhythm and musicality. Classes are fun and enjoyable and a great form of exercise.  As with the ballet classes tap progresses into different levels depending on the age and ability of the individual child.

Also, Dance-A-Round offers an Adult class for those of you who may have learnt tap as a youngster and would like to try again!

Hungarian Family Group

We have 13 working groups in total, providing playgroups, nursery sessions and classes for children and adults at different levels.

Most of these classes teach Hungarian as a minority language for pupils who are settled in this country but wish to maintain their Hungarian heritage or give opportunities to non-Hungarian members to develop an understanding of the Hungarian language and culture.

Other classes complement mainstream education by teaching children music, dance and drama.

We also organise social events at different venues: a Spring Festival with fancy dress in February, a concert or theatre workshop in June, a Sports Day in September, and a Christmas party in December.

Islington Food Bank

We are reopening from Saturday 22nd August with a new appointment-based system to keep our volunteers and clients safe.

UNDER THE NEW SYSTEM, A VOUCHER CAN ONLY BE REDEEMED WITH AN APPOINTMENT.

In order to provide the most appropriate help for the circumstances of your situation, we work with local agencies. If they feel you are struggling to put food on the table, they will issue you a foodbank voucher. The local agency can also provide long term support if needed to help address some of the issues behind the reasons for your crisis. Agencies we work with include Islington Council, local housing associations and Help on Your Doorstep.
