History & Introduction

Highbury Roundhouse was set up in 1974 to meet the needs of the young people in the area. Since then it has grown and developed into a thriving community centre, which provides facilities for people of all ages and backgrounds.

From pre-school to old age,

there is always something for everyone. We host a Childminders' Group, Pyramid Soft Play, a weekly playgroup and a range of dance, drama and music groups for children and young people.

We have weekly Karate classes, Pilates, and music classes for all ages. For the elderly, we have two lunch and social clubs, one of which is for members of the Afro-Caribbean community. We also provide a home for a number of community groups and organise social and fund-raising events during the year.

Highbury Roundhouse serves a large cross section of the community, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and young people from different backgrounds and abilities. With your help and support we will continue to do so.

Help & Support

Highbury Roundhouse is run by full and part-time staff, a small pool of dedicated volunteer workers and an active management committee. Some of our projects are supported financially by Islington Council and a number of other funders.

In 2013, our community building was demolished due to severe subsidence. We now need to raise £2.75 million for a new community centre.

The council has granted a long lease on the site and we have gained planning permission for our new building. What we need now is to raise the funds. We have made good progress and have prepared a detailed fundraising profile, which we are confident will help us  meet our fundraising target.

We provide essential services for our community, but to continue we need your help. Please help us by donating to our new building fund, so that we can continue our work. Every little helps.
