About Highbury Roundhouse
History and Introduction
Highbury Roundhouse was set up in 1974 to meet the needs of the young people in the area. Since then it has grown and developed into a thriving community centre, which provides facilities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
From pre-school to old age, there is something for everyone. We host a Childminders' Group, Pyramid Soft Play, a weekly playgroup and a range of dance, drama and music groups for children and young people. We have weekly Karate classes, a Ki-Aikido Class and Yoga classes for all ages. For the elderly, we have two lunch and social clubs, one of which is for members of the Afro-Caribbean community.
We also provide a home for a number of community groups and organise events during the year, both social and theatre.
Highbury Roundhouse is run by full and part-time staff, a small pool of dedicated volunteer workers and an active management committee. Some of our projects are supported financially by Islington Council and a number of other funders.
Highbury Roundhouse serves a large cross section of the community, such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and young people from different backgrounds and abilities, and with your help and support will continue to do so.
